Java Backend Engineer (m/f)
Just in a few months from launch my client has developed into one of the most promising companies in the
space of local commerce. He provides local businesses with an operating system that enables them
to market their services through web and mobile channels. Thus, he is the business booster for every
local merchant. The company was founded end of 2012 by the former co-founders and senior executives of
Citydeal /Groupon International. Their headquarter is based in Berlin from where the company operates
all international markets.
Your Responsibilities
· Develop innovative software tools, applications, services, and platforms to extend and improve on their internal systems or external product offering
· Create robust high-volume production applications, and develop prototypes quickly
· Solve all complex, challenging, and interesting problems that come your way
· Take care of your product’s whole lifetime - from the first lines of code written to continuous maintenance in production with self-defined business metrics
· Maintaining a high awareness of industry issues and trends, particularly in regard to accessibility, usability, and emerging technologies
· Constantly seeking to develop yourself by learning new technologies and keeping abreast of market developments
Your Minimum Qualifications
· Master's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related fields
· Extensive programming experience in Java with strong object oriented skills.
· 2 years of relevant work experience in software development.
Preferred Qualifications
· A solid foundation in computer science, strong competencies in data structure, algorithms, and software design
· Specialization in large scale software systems, service oriented architectures, and REST based API design
· Outstanding analytical and troubleshooting skills
· Experience with UNIX/Linux, distributed systems, web-based systems, and open web standards
· Extensive knowledge of database systems and ORM frameworks
· Pragmatic and detail oriented programmer applying XP principles
· Deep knowledge and production ready skillset of at least one web application container
· Good sense for applying metrics throughout a platform stack including technical and business metrics
· Fluent in English
