Country level domain names are very powerful. In the old days when a government coup occured the insurgent rebel (would be) leaders would move to take over the TV and Radio stations to inform the masses that the Country was under new management. I think we'll live to see the day when Internet TLD's become an equal target of future militiamen.
These stories above illustrate what the future holds for name extensions which become obsolete when the Country they represent, no longer exists.
