Off Topic: Microsoft Surface: revolutionary product, poor domain name strategy?
First commercially available surface computer from Microsoft, the aptly named "Surface" breaks down barriers and provides effortless interaction with information using touch, natural gestures and physical objects... A great product but shouldn't a company like Microsoft know better when it comes to risks attached to a generic naming strategy?
As if the "hotmail.co.uk" fiasco was not lesson enough, Surface.es is now the subject of an auction on SEDO! While Surface.com does indeed point to a Microsoft site, this oversight on ccTLDs is surprising at best. Will Redmond itself be tempted to auction in anticipation for the enter of "Surface" into the Spanish market and the rest of Europe?
