Ukratko, rec je o medjunarodnom takmicenju u programiranju, cija je svrha da uporedi postojece platforme za razvoj web aplikacija: Java, PHP, Perl (Python, Ruby i .NET/ASP su izbaceni iz ovogodisnjeg takmicenja zbog nedostatka kvalitetnih timova koji bi bili zastupali pomenute platforme - vidi dole).

The purpose of Plat_Forms is to obtain neutral information on practical consequences of using one platform versus the other.

In just 30 hours, the teams will implement as much of the requested functionality as they can and at the same time optimize the usefulness of the resulting system (functionality, usability, reliability, etc.), the understandability of the code, the modifiability of the system design, the efficiency and scalability.

These items will then be subject to a thorough evaluation according to scientific standards with respect to the criteria mentioned above. As most of the results cannot be quantified and many cannot even be ranked in a neutral fashion, there will be no one-dimensional result ranking of the systems. Rather, there will be an extensive report describing the findings.

There will be no overall "winner" of the contest. However, there will be a winning team per platform. A monetary price will be awarded for each of these teams.

Paznju mi privlace IBM i ZEND Technologies

Neither Python nor Ruby nor, surprisingly, .net had a sufficient number of sufficiently qualified applications. In order to ensure the quality of the teams, we have thus not included these platforms in the contest this year.

However, since both a "conventional" platform (based on a statically typed language: Java) and two platforms based on scripting languages (Perl, PHP) are present, the contest will fulfill its intended purpose perfectly.

Za sada, TOP (i jedini) pokrovitelj je ZEND, a lista pokrovitelja jos uvek nije konacna.
